This is the third part of a three-part course in bed bug management. This module introduces the student to an integrated pest management (IPM) approach to bed bugs.

Students completing this module will learn how to:

  • Develop an effective management strategy that does not rely upon one pest management method, but incorporates many tools that work in a particular situation. You should be able to pick and choose methods that, combined, have the best outcomes.
  • How to recognize the importance of non-chemical methods of bed bug management and how they fit into an effective management strategy.
  • Identify the reasons for bed bug pesticide treatment failures, which may differ in different circumstances.
  • Safely manage bed bugs while minimizing risks from management tools, including pesticides.

Successful completion of this module will earn you 1 recertification credit for New York State DEC certified pesticide applicators in categories 7a, 8, and 10.

*If you are certified in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, or West Virginia, check the appropriate state-specific credit information page under the "Store Menu" to confirm approval and recertification credit values.

*Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont have approved all DLC courses and awards the same credits as New York.
